KUALA LUMPUR: The Democratic Action Party (DAP) wished its secretary-general, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook a happy birthday on the occasion of Loke's 46th birthday today.

On the party's Twitter account, it shared  two photos of Loke which included his current photo and a photo of him when he was young.

In conjunction with Loke's birthday, the party also shared an interesting fact, where Loke joined DAP when he was just 17-years-old, right after finishing his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations.

"Yes, this is true, in fact Loke was inspired to join DAP from a very young age at just nine-years-old.

"The inspiration came to Loke naturally after watching DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang on television during the 1986 Malaysian General Election," it added.

In the Twitter post, it said that Loke held on tight to his dream of joining the party and waited patiently until he was old enough to sign up as a member.

Netizens also sent their warm birthday wishes to Loke in the comment section.

"Happy birthday, champ! You have been nothing but a blessing to Malaysia," said user @erwansays.

"Happy birthday to one of my favourite ministers!" said another social media user @syedshahfiq_ in the comment thread.

"Loke already had tons of followers when he was young and was handsome too. Now, still handsome lah," another netizen @OrangMalaysia4 said in the same post.
